THE
SALVATION ARMY ORANGE COUNTY ASSISTS
THOUSANDS IN NEED AT CHRISTMAS
The Salvation
Army in Orange County will distribute food and toys
to thousands in need for Christmas through their Christmas
Warehouse in Garden Grove.
As part of
the Christmas program The Army provides much needed
help to needy families who applied for assistance in
November. The program is for families with children
12 and under.
“We
are seeing new families this year because of the economic
slump and business downsizing in several communities
of Orange County,” says the Army’s Orange
County Director of Family Services Beverly Freeman.
Last year in Orange County The Salvation Army served
over 16,000 men, women and children during the Christmas
season.
The “Adopt
a Family” program also operates out of the Christmas
Warehouse. This program provides for families adopted
by individuals, civic groups or businesses. They are
given a family of whatever size they choose and then
they provide food, clothing, toys or other needed items
for specific members of that family. The distribution
day for the “Adopt a Family” program takes
place on Wednesday, December 17, 9 a.m.
The
two general distribution days at The Salvation Army’s
Christmas Warehouse are Friday, December 19 and Tuesday,
December 23; both starting at 9 a.m. The warehouse is
located at 11822 Gilbert Street, Garden Grove (northeast
corner of Gilbert and Chapman). For further information
call 714.832.7100.
