After the Holiday Season
The Salvation Army Keeps on Working
Orange County, CA – “After the holiday season some people think The Salvation Army takes a break,” says Orange County Coordinator Major John Van Cleef. “No more bell ringing, No more Christmas kettles. We just wait until next year to help those in need. But nothing could be further from the truth!”
“Every day The Salvation Army is there to assist those in need with food, clothing and emergency assistance. With the help of our supporters, in 2011, we provided life-saving services to thousands of families in desperate need.”
Nearly half of all Americans now rate as poor or low-income according to the U.S Census Bureau. “With persistently high unemployment, rising living costs and stagnating wages, there are many in our Orange County communities who are hurting. That’s why our Annual Fund Drive Campaign is so important,” says Major Van Cleef. He urges Orange County citizens to support generously. “We want to be ready to respond to those who need our help in 2012 and, with the support of our friends in Orange County, we will.”
With your support, The Salvation Army plans to continue providing grants for rent, utility assistance, transportation vouchers and food for families in desperate need. We expect to visit lonely, hurting people in nursing homes and hospitals through our Community Cares Ministries. We will feed the homeless and hungry men, women and children in Orange County. We will also give disadvantaged children the opportunity to experience summer camp at Camps Gilmore and Mountain Crags.
