ANGEL
TREE PROGRAM BRINGING HOLIDAY JOY TO TOTS
The
Salvation Army Orange County Seeks "Angels"
The
Salvation Army Orange County Angel Tree Program provides
clothing and toys to countless tots during the holiday
season.
In
its "Angel Tree" program, The Salvation Army
sets up Christmas trees in retail stores and other well-attended
venues, hung with cards expressing the specific needs
and desires of local underprivileged children. Donors
("Angels") take a card and buy the item requested.
Salvation Army volunteers wrap and distribute the gifts,
keeping detailed records so that no one is disappointed.
"This
year we have been so grateful by the response in Orange
County to our Angel Tree program," says Captain
Lee Lescano, Orange County Coordinator. "People
really do care about the children in our community.
I can't tell you the number of store owners and managers
who have opened up their hearts and invited us in. I
want to send out a special message of thanks to each
and every one of them."
A
Salvation Army Angel Tree can be found at the Orange
Mall in the City of Orange where Orange County residents
are invited to participate in this joyous holiday ritual.
Many Orange County corporations are also participating.
"This
is a great way for people in Orange County to get personally
involved at Christmas time," concludes Lescano.
"There is nothing that blesses us more than lifting
a child's heart. People who take the time to participate
in the Angel Tree program will abide in the true spirit
of Christmas throughout the holidays."
