YOU CAN HELP FEED THE HUNGRY IN ORANGE COUNTY
THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

The Salvation Army Orange County needs canned and non-perishable foods for distribution to the most needy in Orange County!

22,000 people, including children, were assisted with food during the holiday season last year by the Orange County Salvation Army. It is anticipated that the need will be greater this year because of higher unemployment rates and economic setbacks "Homelessness increased by 17% from last year," states Beverly Freeman, Social Services Director for the Orange County Salvation Army.

One of the most important activities of the Army is feeding the hungry. To help families this holiday season The Salvation Army needs canned and non-perishable foods packaged in non-glass containers. Suggested foods: canned fruit, vegetables, soups, sauces, coffee and meats. Dry goods include: noodles, spaghetti, rice, macaroni and cheese, dried beans and popcorn. Food items in plastic containers are also needed: jelly/jams, and peanut butter. Dessert items such as cake mix/frosting, brownie/cookie mix, pie crust/pie filling, Jell-O and pudding mix are also welcomed.

Glass packaged items are discouraged as breakage often occurs in the packing and distribution process.

Schools, service clubs, businesses, as well as individuals and families can hold a Canned Food Drive. Food items may be dropped off at Orange County Salvation Army Thrift Stores located in the cities of Anaheim, Buena Park, Costa Mesa, Fullerton, Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, La Habra, Lake Forest, Orange, San Clemente, Santa Ana and Westminster. For further information and other drop-off locations, call Warren Johnson, Christmas Program Chairman, 714.832.7100 ext. 223 or Judy Dominguez, Volunteer Coordinator, ext. 238.
