SALVATION ARMY "SPIRIT AWARDS" DINNER AT NIXON LIBRARY
Warren Duffy, Radio and TV Broadcasters Hall of Famer, to MC. Also featuring Guest Musician from London, England, award winning cornet and trumpet player Philip Cobb.
The Salvation Army Orange County Advisory Board’s Annual “Spirit Awards” Civic Dinner will be held on Friday, May 16 at 7 p.m. at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum in the East Room.
Warren Duffy, one of America’s top ten radio personalities, will be the Master of Ceremonies. Duffy is a veteran of nearly 50 years in radio broadcasting and along the way served as the Personal Administrative Assistant to Dr. Robert Schuler, pastored a church in Hawaii and had a brief stint as Public Relations Director for the famous Beach Boys. According to Calvary Chapel’s Pastor Chuck Smith, “Warren Duffy is the most recognized Christian voice of Southern California." In 2000, Duffy was inducted into the Radio and TV Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
Philip Cobb, cornet and trumpet player, will be the featured Guest Musician. Residing in Hendon, England, Cobb was awarded the “Most Promising Player” at the Maurice Andre International Trumpet Competition.
The three “Spirit Awards” are given to leading citizens or organizations who have contributed in an extraordinary manner of their time, talent and/or financial resources. The “Others” Award exemplifies service to others benefiting The Salvation Army and/or the community. The “Volunteer of the Year” Award is given for exceptional volunteer service to enhance and improve their community. The “Spirit of the Army” Award is presented for significant contributions to The Army’s programs and services in Orange County.
Also featured are the “Heroes of the Faith” Awards. These individuals were, at some time, involved in Salvation Army programs. They are now making a difference in their communities by doing the most good for others.
The dinner’s proceeds will benefit Salvation Army Orange County programs and services. For further information and/or an invitation packet, call 714.832.7100.
